Here are some photos of The Cool Cat - it really is as relaxing as it looks! Santorini (or Thira as it is also known) is world-famous for its beauty, the volcano and also for its varied nightlife.
Fira, the capital of the island has a maze of winding narrow streets, arcades and beautiful houses. There are many places to visit including the Archaeological Museum.
Fira affords spectacular views across to the Caldera (the volcano) and the 'Kamenes', two islets of black stone. Both the islets and the volcano can be visited by launch.
Oia, in the north of the island is also a sight not to be missed. It is a place of incomparable beauty marked by a unique architectural style and is particularly famous for its spectacular sunsets. You can also see the sunset from 'Old Lotza' - the castle in Oia as well as having a fantastic view of the Caldera as well.
Another fascinating place to visit is Akrotiri, a Minoan city which was destroyed around 1500 BC by an eruption of the volcano. The ruins are open to the public and make fascinating viewing.
Should you like to swim, some of the best beaches are Perivolos, Perissa, Kamari, Baxedes, Vlihada and Monolithos, Armeni and Ammoudi (with very deep waters and rocks but beautiful all the same!) and Kokini, Akrotiri and Aspri Paralia. You really are spoilt for choice!
Santorini offers something for everybody and whether you want watersports, restaurants, bars, discotheques, shopping facilities or extraordinary beaches you are sure to find something you love!
